PRS 516 Series
The Tissot PRS 516 series is one of the most celebrated and long-standing sports watch collections from Tissot, firmly rooted in 1960s motorsport history. Originally introduced in 1965, the name "PR" stands for Particularly Robust (or Precision and Resistance), while "516" signifies the 16th model in Tissot’s 5th water-resistant series.
The collection is highly regarded for blending nostalgia from the racetrack with modern Swiss watchmaking innovations.
- Motorsport DNA: Heavily inspired by vintage racing cars, the series features distinctive details like piston-shaped chronograph pushers and steering-wheel-inspired case backs.
- Perforated Straps: The iconic leather bands feature large cutouts reminiscent of vintage leather racing gloves and steering wheels, which historically allowed heat to escape.
- Highly Legible Dials: Watch faces are heavily defined by sharp contrasts, bright accent hands (often red or yellow), and clear tachymeter scales on the bezels for speed calculations
